"That Old Frame Church" Composed by David Bremner, Arranged by Michael Peterman (a song written to celebrate 285 years of Slash Church)
1. Colonial American, in days of horse and wagons Early Christians built Slash Church written in history's pages, Standing all these ages Through storms, fire and old Civil War our heavenly Father, his faithful followers together have kept her standing tall. They've passed her down, the building and the grounds, to us to keep, passing her on.
CHORUS: That old frame church, people love so much stands tall on the hill by the woods such a special place, to all in the faith, of Jesus Christ, as Savior and Lord. It's a legacy in time, built 1729 a house of God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost many hearts and souls, both young and old, Reborn, right here, in Jesus' blood.
2. Grand memories we find, when we think back in time all the people and fellowship we've known God bless the Preachers, all volunteers and teachers who've shared the faith, hope and love Some Parents brought us here, that makes it's so dear to our hearts for evermore Where lots of us met Christ, He gave us new life By grace we enter heaven's door
--CHORUS--
3. Open concerts we share, there's gospel in the air music fills the countryside then there's "Why the Star", that leads us from afar, to baby Jesus, in little town of Bethlehem Those wedding bell chimes, some baptismal lines this house has hosted them all lots of faith professions, and baby dedications, farewells to loved ones gone home
If these church walls could talk Oh the stories they could tell all the praises raised here to Heaven all the souls saved here from hell If these walls could re-echo all its history from the past we would all stand amazed the golden heritage we have If these church walls could talk one truth it would tell us all: "The Church is in the people not in my walls at all don't let me be a stumbling block my ambient historical flare Please let me be a stepping stone by saying, God is our focus here! I stand serving God the best I can and I'm sure someday I'll be gone But until then, I'm with all of you here, the Church to help keep, God's truth, marching on!"
--CHORUS--
