2024 Worship Series"Go & Do the Same"
Slash Church begins a season of stewardship as we prepare our Covenant commitments to our 2025 ministry plan. Our series is based upon Jesus’ telling of the Good Samaritan when he asks us to Go and Do the Same. The lesson of the parable is that everyone is our neighbor. "What's in a Name?"
We are embarking on a 9-week journey together through the gospel of John and into a deeper understanding of who Jesus is and what that means for us. What’s in a Name is a comprehensive look at the I AM statements of Christ in the New Testament, which like most things, traces its roots back to the Old Testament. In John’s gospel, Jesus made seven declarations all beginning with the words “I am.” Together, these statements offer a clear view of Jesus, and the ways he impacts everyday life; our struggles, fears, and questions, as well as our hopes and dreams. Join us on this journey through John this Fall. "Psalms for All Seasons"
Psalms is a book for all seasons, because it speaks to every area and every season of our lives. It’s a collection of praise and anguish, joy and sadness, triumph and defeat written by many different authors in many different situations over hundreds of years. It is truly a unique book that has brought encouragement and hope to millions of people over the centuries. Psalms for All Seasons will encourage and inspire us all with the timeless wisdom of the Psalms. "Letting Go"
What do you do when you realize that the destination, you’re trying to reach is unachievable, that the dream you had is not going to come true, that the hope you had is going to go unfulfilled. What do you do when you find yourself trying to reach a destination on your path that is unreachable? This Sunday we conclude “The Path- our study in Proverbs” by finding out what Solomon can teach us about unreachable destinations? "Established in the Love of God"
In this series, we're going to learn how to be rooted and established in the love of God. We will be exploring scriptures that offer practical steps to understand God's Word better, serve with enthusiasm, walk in the Father's will, and catch a passion for sharing the Gospel with the world. "The Path"
The Path of life is filled with many twists and turns, it is not an easy course to navigate on our own. This is exactly why God has not left us to ourselves. Instead, God has provided us with the perfect wisdom we need for the journey ahead through the Bible. Be with us as we mine the wisdom of the Proverbs as we begin 2024. 2023 Worship Series
"God With Us"
This Christmas, we invite you to experience the miracle of the gift of God’s presence--God With Us. During the five weeks leading up to Christmas, dive into the meaning of hope, love, joy and peace. Everything changed on that unexpected first Christmas more than two thousand years ago. The trajectory of history, the future, was transformed when God became man. Jesus the Son of God became the Son of Man, fully divine yet fully human. As the prophet Isaiah foretold long before, Jesus came to earth as Immanuel, God with us (Isaiah 7:14). We can also look forward to the Children’s Christmas Pageant on December 10th. The kids present: The Fumbly, Bumbly Angels during morning worship. "Devoted"
We are beginning a new four-week series together called Devoted. Throughout this series we’re going to look into the lives and routines of the early church as seen in the Acts of the Apostles. As you may know, the early church understood something about gathering together that churches and communities of faith have been modeling for hundreds of years. I think it is important for us here at Slash to remind ourselves of these principles as we begin a new school year. Our series DEVOTED will point to the secret of the early church’s success and perhaps remind us again what it takes to continue to follow their example and continue to live and grow in our faith. I would argue that the “secret” to their success came down to one thing… devotion. Let us explore what we devote our lives to as we worship together this Fall. "All In"
We as humans are always looking for ways to live life to the fullest. However, the world cannot offer us the Abundant Life Jesus has come to bring. So, we have to learn what it means to look like Jesus & live for Him. In this summer series you’ll discover what Jesus says are the keys to a life well lived. "The Generous Life"
In our new worship series, The Generous Life, we will learn, from scripture, how living generously can open the floodgates to the best version of life possible, and set you on a path to happiness, purpose, and impact through focused awareness and action. We will also be reminded that a generous life is not just about financial giving, it is about being generous in a variety of ways. "Unhindered: Faith Set Free"
“Unhindered” is the last word in the book of Acts. Acts is a sweeping account of the birth of Christianity. It begins with the ascension of Christ and ends with the Apostle Paul writing letters while under Roman house arrest. It’s the story of a handful of disciples who turn the world upside down with their message of love, forgiveness, and salvation through Christ. It’s quite an epic tale, but it may be the very final word of Acts that leaves us with the greatest clue for how to live as followers of Christ in the modern world. “Unhindered” may be the last word of Acts, but it’s the first word for those who put their hope, faith, and trust in the risen King Jesus. Journey with us here at Slash as we learn how to live “unhindered” lives based on the teachings of Jesus. "The Book of Romans: The Power of the Gospel"
Jesus Christ is at the center of our lives according to Paul who wrote the Letter to the Roman Church about the transformative power of Jesus. During this worship series we will explore the deep theological truths along with pastoral care and concern Paul shares. Christ centers us and offers salvation for all people if we will believe and follow him.
"Surprise the World"
How many of us would like to have the tools and confidence we need to share our faith? In Surprise the World you’ll find practical tips that will help you cultivate powerful missional habits. The simple lessons in this series will surprise you with the overwhelming goodness and accessibility of the Kingdom of God. This sermon series comes straight from pastor Michael Frost’s book by the same name, Surprise the World. Pastor Frost has simplified what many others have made incredibly complex and he has organized it in such a way that all of us can become better at sharing our faith with others.
2022 Worship Series"The Cast of Christmas"
This Christmas discover the fact that you play an essential role in one of the greatest true stories in history. During the four weeks of Advent leading up to Christmas, on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, experience the anticipation of the prophets, the joyful proclamation of the angels, the journey of the shepherds and wise men—and how all of this fits in with how we prepare and celebrate Christmas in 2022. We will experience the coming of Christ through the eyes of the different characters involved and then we will consider how we are touched and challenged by the birth of Jesus. "From Bread and Cup to Faith and Giving"
A little about the series... Receiving the bread and the cup—Holy Communion—is at the center of all Christian communities. At first, it may seem surprising to think about stewardship and giving in connection with passages that focus on communion. But we believe that partaking of the bread and the cup can lead to faith and giving and that makes the communion table the giving table. At the table, God uses the loaf and the cup to show us pure, unbounded love and the table reminds us of God’s desire for all people to live together in love, peace, justice, and abundance. On October 9th we begin our 2023 Stewardship Campaign. Our focus during the Fall will be how “The Bread and Cup moves us to Giving and Faith.” "Hope Is Here" A little about the series... We were created by God to live with a healthy balance in life. However, far too many of us are over scheduled and under rested. We fill our calendars. We can’t say no. We live with a harmful drive to achieve. We have lost hope that it will slow down anytime soon. Jesus offers us such a gift in saying that he has come to give us rest. This rest is found in a grace that does not demand that we jump through all the hoops or get everything right. The rest that Jesus offers is an unmerited favor for anyone who comes to Him. This grace is best experienced in community. We can learn from Jesus as we learn from one another. When we do Church with one another, we lift one another up, we protect one another’s boundaries, and we carry one another’s burdens. "God's Grace"
We marvel at the immensity of forgiveness offered to us in the gospel of Jesus Christ; we revel in the price freely paid on our behalf through the blood of our Savior—but do we know just how vast and rich the gift of grace truly is? Throughout the series, we will continually learn that while God loved us even as we were, lost in our rebellion and sin, he loves us too much to leave us there. "The Book of James: Faith and Works"
A 5-week series to teach key principles about life as a believer. James writes this letter as an active participant in the lessons of faith and perseverance. From the heart of a pastor, James shares an important message of wisdom for a church suffering persecution. "Power Shifts"
Mission work is at the heart of the Gospel. For years we in the church have depended upon special people called by God to go out into the world and share the gospel, feed the hungry, clothe the needy and provide shelter to those without. Today we still depend on missionaries to do this work, but they need help. We need a Power Shift that helps us understand that we can do more than just come to church on Sunday and give to needy causes. The great commission was given to all Christians and all Christians need to answer God’s call. How will we do that in a time like this at Slash? "Who is my Neighbor?"
One of the central lessons of scripture centers on the question a lawyer asked Jesus. That question was "Who is my neighbor?" This season of Lent we will explore Jesus answer to that question and the answer to that question from other religious points of view. Not only will we talk about this in worship, but we will also have the chance for ecumenical dialogue with people of other faith traditions on Wednesday or Thursday nights (get your schedule in the weekly news). "Week of Compassion"
Your gifts to Week of Compassion bring hope out of despair, find blessings amid devastation, and help transform loss into new life. When you give, you help rebuild communities recovering from disaster. You also empower farmers to grow new kinds of crops in a changing climate; you support refugees; you empower youth through education, and empower women through vocational opportunities. In so many different ways, your gifts of love have the power to transform lives. Love is shelter. Love is a listening ear. Love is community. Love is a hopeful future. Love is a path forward. When all else seems lost, love remains. "Redeeming Your Time"
Be here with us at Slash beginning on Sunday, January 16 for a 5-week sermon series as we learn time management the Biblical way. We will look at how Jesus managed his time when he came to earth. As you read the gospels, you can’t help but realize Jesus was the most productive person who ever lived. We’re going to look at his life and how he managed his time (very counter culturally) and see how we can apply those principles to our own lives in the 21st century. If we follow God’s will in our lives, we can get it all done. "The Best Christmas Ever"
A little about the series . . . This Advent we are preparing to celebrate The Best Christmas Ever. I know it’s kind of a goofy pop culture way to say it, but what makes something The Best Ever? How does an event move from ordinary to extraordinary? Obviously, this has been a difficult year and for some it has been the worst year ever. That is why I want nothing more than for this year to end on a high note. For as dark and difficult as things have been, there is a light at the end of this tunnel. During our prep for Christmas we will embark on an extraordinary journey of hope, peace, joy, and love. Let’s believe that this can be The Best Christmas Ever. You were created in the image of God and therefore you were Created to Be A Steward. You give because God created you and gave you the fruit of the spirit of generosity which invites you to share in the work of transforming the values of this world.
"Revival: Stronger than Ever"
The Bible has lessons for every situation we will ever face. Chronicles was written to teach us how to recover from a national crisis. The times were different but the lessons we need to learn during this pandemic can help us to revive our faith and make us #StrongerThanEver. Sundays this Fall are for Revival. Sunday mornings this Fall we are focusing on the book of Chronicles, the book of recovery. "CRAZY HAPPY"
Here's the truth: whether we hunt for happiness in parties, bars, the workplace hustle, or even in church pews, we'll wind up shortchanged. Why? Because we don't see our lives as beautiful. But God wants something better for you--happiness so real this world might think it's too good to be true. In August we want to change all that with a talk about being Crazy Happy. This sermon series is designed to help connect you to the beautifully happy and joy-filled life God has for you! "WIN THE DAY"
Too many people delay, downsize, or shrug off their dreams just because they don't know where to start, but playing it safe doesn't account for the massive cost of a life not fully lived. Win the Day is the jump start you need to go after God-sized goals, one day at a time. There are seven powerful habits that can help you turn yesterday's regrets and tomorrow's anxieties into fuel for a better today. Imagine how much better your life would be if, instead of obsessing over the past or worrying about the future, you set out to win today...and every day thereafter. Here's the bottom line. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Our job is to Win the Day, that's it. You are always welcome to invite a friend especially now as we can safely gather outside for worship. Come and help us unpack these 7 Habits that can help all Christians stress less and accomplish more! "FOCUS"
There are many different things competing for our attention in life. If we are not careful, we will lose focus of the things that really matter most. Throughout this series, we will be looking at four different things that God calls us to focus on. The joy, fulfillment, and satisfaction you have been desiring will require action on your part. Are you ready to let God realign your focus to increase your faith? "7 Essential Questions"
Lent 2021 Both lifelong Christians and people on the edges of the church have some of the same basic questions about life and faith. Lent is the perfect time to explore these questions. • Who is Jesus? • What Matters Most? • Am I Accepted? • Where is God? • What Brings Fulfillment? • What About Suffering? • Is There Hope? Join us during lent as we answer these questions culminating with our celebration of the Hope of Easter found in the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. "Prayer of Agur"
Discover the ancient wisdom found in the one and only prayer mentioned in all of Proverbs. We learn from a man named Agur, a simple guy with deep insights and a hunger for living life to the fullest. Many of us have felt the imbalance of life for some time even before the pandemic. We recognize the unsustainable pace of modern life, all while chugging another coffee and hustling to the next appointment. But what if there was a better way? What if there was a sweet spot to life where contentment and balance could be found? We find it in this two week sermon series the Prayer of Agur. "We Are Gathered Here"
Each Sunday millions of people around the world gather to worship together in a church of some form or fashion. For thousands of years the Church has kept this weekly ritual. But why? What is so special about gathering together with other believers? This 5-week Series will unpack some of the greatest benefits of being a regular part of a community of believers. |
