Slash does a great deal of reaching out to our community.  We also know how to come together for a good time.  

Children & Youth Ministries

Children and youth are important at Slash.  
Opportunities are provided for them to grow in their faith while their gifts and talents are nurtured.

Ministry to Our Children

  • Children Worship & Wonder for children 4 yrs. old through 4th grade.   Children hear Bible stories and learn about God during Sunday worship services at 10:00 am.  Optional care is provided in our Nursery all morning for infants and children 2 years old or younger
  • Children’s Choir Sunday morning during the school year, 11:00 am practice in the sanctuary.  All K-5th grade children are invited to play bells and sing in our worship.
  • Church School Sunday morning, 9:00 am.   The Young Disciples meet on the first floor in the Education building.  Nursery for Birth to age 2; 3-5 year olds; and Kindergarten to 2nd grade. The older children, 3rd-5th graders, meet on the second floor of the Loving Building adjacent to the sanctuary.    
  • Summer Camp for Disciples of Christ members in Virginia is at Craig Springs Camp & Conference Center.  A variety of camps are available for children.  Remember to register through the church and receive half price scholarships for everyone who participates at Slash​.​
  • Vacation Bible School each summer

Middle & High School Youth

6th to 12th graders participate in our programs.
We strive to be a positive Christian presence in the lives of our youth, encouraging their participation in worship, meetings, outreach, events, and camps.  
  • Parent/Youth Meeting; We let parents know about our focus and plans for the semester.
  • Youth Meetings usually every other Sunday during the school year.  Youth participate in recreational field trips, mission outreach events, Bible Study, games, and small group discussions.  
  • Church School classes for middle school and high school students meet from 9:00-10:00 am Sunday mornings in rooms on the second floor of the Education building.
  • Summer Camp for Disciples of Christ members in Virginia is at Craig Springs Camp & Conference Center. The Virginia Camping Ministry also offers events and retreats in other locations. A variety of camps are available.  Remember to register through the church and receive half price scholarships for everyone who participates at Slash.
  • Mission Trip for Middle & High School students each summer.  ​
